LOOK FOR THE BOOK...

Here's some images of the mood I want to create in my lookbook image for the brochure. These images are from Palmer and Harding's Spring/Summer 2012 collection. I Love the clean, simple and sylish look about these photos and using a male and female model to model the collection links with my 'unisex' idea for my collection. I want to use one male and one female model in my image becuase by showing this it'll show that my collection is worn by both sex's.

TROPIC IS THE TOPIC....

WIth constant thoughts of my final collection in the back on my mind every minute of everyday, i've had a long hard think about using print in my collection. With my tropical print collection being successful I want to take my prints from that collection and develop them further. With my collection I want to show the things I do best and print is one of them which I'd be stupid not to use. Taking the most successful prints from my print collection I want to Develop them in a way by taking the colour out and changing them to black and white, with some of the prints that I like left in colour. One of the main designers that will influnece me for this is Dries Von Noten's Spring/Summer 2012 collection.

I've started the play around with my prints, just to get a idea of how they'll look.

Here I've put my print into a model, by doing this I can see how I want my collection to look and feel. Also becuase I want to design menswear as well as womenswear in my collection, I think this print works really on menswear.

FINAL MAJOR PROJECT....

Thinking about my final collection I came to a brick wall with where I was going to get my primary research from. After talking to the tutors about how I want my collection to look, I didnt have a starting point. So for days I was going mad in where I was going to get primary research from and then it hit me in the face!!! With having a dancer's background I want to take the idea of using dancer's lines in dance in my construction side of my collection. I'll mainly look at ballet and comtemporary dance, these are my two favourite types of dance and with the sharpe, crisp lines I want this to reflect in my construction of the garments. I want to take a really minimal look and a 'less is more' approach with influence of designer's like Tze Goh and Calvin Klein.

Here are some images that sum up my collection idea.
Tze Goh A/W 2011
The Kooples A/W 2011
Tim Soar A/w 2011
Hussein Chalayan S/S 2012
COS A/W 2011
The style of my garments and the overall look of the collection I want to have an influence of the 1980's, so looking at designers and style icons from that era. I want to create a collection that can be worn by both genders male and female and have a new take of the 'unisex' clothing, as I don't want to design a collection for just the one gender.

I know this is an old collection but I love it. I love the print used. Christopher always gets it right.

THE IRON LADY.

Last night I went to the cinema to see 'The Iron Lady' starring Meryl Streep. The film portrays the story of Margaret Thatcher being Prime minister in the late 1970's right through to 1990. Streep plays the part very well and although the film lacked in depth in her life of being prime minister and focused more on her elderly life. The main thing that stood out for me from the film was the colour blue, she wore alot of the colour throughout the film and it has inspired me to use it in my final collection. With the colour blue reflecting to me a strong and powerful colour i want this to reflect in my collection.

Also the colour is very on trend......

NICELY DONE STELLA....

After seeing Stella McCartney's resort 2012 collection online I was excited to see it when it hit the stores so I could see it in the flesh and see how the collection looked in real life. I headed to Selfridges on Oxford street to see the collection and I fell in LOVE all over again. The collection looks just a lovely online as it does in real life. The thing that made this collection work was the tropical prints and the fabrics used. The fabrics were heavy silks and lightweight cottons, digital printing was a key to this collection as well as embroidery, something I would have never thought was used when seeing the collection online. The tropical theme that I used in the 'inidgo' project I may take froward into my final collection but taking a different path in how i use the prints. only time will tell.

LINE-UP S/S 2013

Here's my line-up for my tropical collection s/s 2013. The collection is bright and bursting with print. I've look at the 1980's for shapes of the garments such as oversized jackets and basic t-shirts also taking the style of the 'boyish' look. I would like to take some of the successful prints and put them into my final collection. Maybe with my final collection I need to use less colour and focus on developing the prints even further to ensure I make my final collection the best it can be.
